The Story of Mary and Martha

Hello All!

I was truly blessed this morning by a friend's post on the story of Mary and Martha. I wanted to delve into it a little more because of the inspiration that I received from it. We as women have a lot on our plates from being a wife, mother, friend, employee, etc... So often we get caught up in the day to day hustle and bustle, we forget about spending that intimate time with God. We don't want to add not one more thing to our all ready long list of things to do!

I have learned that God is always there. We just have to get still long enough to feel his presence in our lives. He will provide us with what we need in any given situation. We all have trials and tribulations, God never said we wouldn't, but I believe at the end of the day if we just meditate on his word and APPLY it to our LIFE and not just write blogs, send emails, profess around the "right" people, then we cannot fail. We have to sit at his feet just as Mary did.

I must admit that I do have the "Martha Syndrome" at times. The song goes a little like this:
"Why isn't anyone helping ME! I have this, this, and that to do!" "I'M tired!" We get so consumed about the things of this world that we don't focus on what is important, Jesus Christ. Mary demanded that Jesus tell Martha to help her! She demanded JESUS! His response to her was this:

41

And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

42

But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Mary chose the good part! Ladies, we have to choose the good part to be successful in this life and in our walk with the Lord. We must nurture our souls with the word of God so that we can be good mothers, wives, friends, etc... If we take that energy that we use on the things that do not matter, that we cannot change, and focus on the things of GOD... WOW! What power would we have!

Let's get out of the Martha way of thinking and get a Mary attitude!!! God wants us to have life and have it in abundance! We deserve to have joy and peace in our lives, our husbands deserve it, our kids deserve it, our family and friends deserve it. Let's change our mindset and stop sweating the small stuff and get on fire for the Lord!

Be blessed!
