During this time of year we make resolutions or commitments to become better in certain areas of our lives. While I believe it's a great idea to always strive for growth at any time in any area of our lives, this shouldn't be limited to the New Year. It should be an anthem everyday that we are blessed with. What we tend to do is start off well in January with our resolutions, but by March we've fallen off the wagon and fallen back into our same old routines.
We must be consistent in living our lives according to God's will. There is no other acceptable way. Without him we are nothing, but through him we are everything. Lamentations 3:22-25 tells us that, "It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him." We don't have to wait for the New Year to begin again. Every day that we are living and breathing, we have the opportunity to grow. It isn't done merely by saying that we will, but a constant and conscious effort to grow beyond our current state.
